Transformative Healthcare’s CoAEMPS accredited Paramedic Training Program is the only educational program in Massachusetts to feature a range of cutting edge simulation technologies that vastly increase the efficacy of the learning experience.
Complimented by Virtual Reality, and Immersive by Echo Health, the Simulation experts at Transformative Healthcare’s paramedic program can make it easy to suspend disbelief and use simulation to advance your skill set quickly. Simulation is a corner stone and proud differentiator of the Clinical Center for Excellence.
For the Paramedic Program, we use Simulation to supplement all phases, didactic and lab as it this modality allows the Paramedic Students to build assessment and treatment competencies as the students are learning their new skills. Simulation is used to supplement the Clinical 1 phase for skills that may be difficult to achieve in controlled setting in an established time or to verify competency. During the Clinical 2 phase, Simulation is used to successfully ensure completion of required assessment for any patient populations that have not yet been fulfilled.
The Didactic component of the Paramedic Program is a mixture of lecture and lab, interactive experiences exercises to develop and challenge critical thinking.
The 4 modules covering required curriculum, are enhanced with the additional components that have proven to be successful to connect the dots for learners to get to the “ah ha” moments even more quickly. The Center for Clinical Excellence educators ensure that all students a have a solid foundation and understanding in A & P, Pharmacology, Cardiology, EMS operations, Medical 1 and 2, and Trauma care.
This 11-month program offers a flexible schedule for working EMTs. We recommend continuing to stay in the field transporting patients as BLS remains the solid foundation for all ALS assessments and interventions. Students will attend class as an entire cohort either Tuesdays or Wednesdays depending on the course selected.
Each cohort is split to ensure an amazing student to instructor ratio, ensuring that all practical and simulation time is efficient and effective. Lab and activity days are offered Thursday and Fridays.
At the completion of the didactic program, students will continue to come to class for 8 hours a week on their schedule day. The remainder of the time is reallocated to the clinical experience. Contact us for more details to find a program that works for your work schedule and lifestyle.
There are three Clinical phases of the program.
The first phase, Clinical 1, provides the Paramedic Student’s with an in-hospital experiences with live patients. Here, the students learn and master their skills, team member contacts, observe delegation and team lead skills. These hospital rotations include the Emergency room, Operating Room, Labor and Delivery, Pediatrics, performing skills like, IV placement, medication administration, patient assessment, airway management including intubation, and more.
The Clinical 2 phase is focused on Field Ride Time. Students can now expand their hones skills and abilities to the out of hospital arena. Here, they learn to act as the team leader. Preceptors model the behaviors students strive to lead without prompting, to form and execute a successful patient care plan and transfer care to the receiving facility.
It is in this phase, the students focus on a vastly diverse patient population requiring assessment inclusive of: Adults, Pediatric patients, Geriatrics and prove competent in recognizing and treating varying conditions like: Cardiac disorders, respiratory complaints, behavioral health emergencies, traumatic injuries, overdoses and more.
The final program phase or the Capstone Experience will culminate the student’s knowledge, ability and ensure a confidence and competency that is required to enter the advanced EMS world as a certified paramedic.
It is in this phase, each student must successfully Team Lead a minimum of 20 calls.
As Paramedic Program students attend class while in the Clinical Experience, they continue to be presented with additional content including several EMS certification programs, AMLS, TECC, PHTLS, and an IFT Program, just to name a few.
Expert lecturers and instructors will provide guidance and feedback as the Paramedic Students hone their skills to prepare for their Capstone Experience. Leadership and Team member roles, responsibilities, and characteristics are a key component to the success of each student’s portfolio completion.
Critical Care experts will introduce the concept of CCT medicine and teach Mechanical ventilation, IFT meds and transport practices while explaining lab value interpretation, chest tubes, central lines, and more.
